My Mill Grinds Pepper and Spice
About the work
“My Mill grinds / Pepper, and Spice, / Your Mill grinds / Rats, and Mice” is printed in Tommy Thumb’s Pretty Song Book, published in London in 1744. The book preserves the rhyme; that date identifies its printed witness, not the start of any later internet circulation.
